As spring has arrived, preparations got underway yesterday in the Secret Garden poly-tunnel. David, who manages the Secret Garden and local volunteer and Alan were joined by FODI volunteers Vernon, Sergei and Jane, who sowed basil, coriander, mint, oregano, parsley, thyme, dill and spring onion seeds.

When the seedlings are ready and the weather is milder, they will be planted outdoors. Parsnip, Pak Choi, and beetroot seeds had already been sown with Liudmila’s help. The seed potatoes are sprouting and will be sown outdoors when the time is right.

Jane particularly admired the chair containing sedums, which was up-cycled by David’s wife. The birds were singing and we chatted in the sunshine in this lovely garden. New volunteers are welcome on Tuesdays and more information can be found at FODI’s drop-ins.
