The FODI Women’s Group is a great success with activities involving cooking, crafts and dancing to build a sense of mutual support, self-esteem and community amongst women.
Our Women’s Group started in 2016. Since then, it has been a loving group for female asylum-seekers and refugees in Sunderland where they come to forget about their sufferings by doing Yoga, dancing, making new friends, and meeting other women from different cultures and backgrounds. This group is funded by the National Lottery and Tudor Trust. Our Women’s Group meets up every Friday (term time) from 10 am to 12:30 pm in Trinity Church on Stockton Road in Sunderland.
We have different activities for women such as Yoga, crafts, art, and cooking (occasionally). We also have a creche that helps mothers leave their children there and enjoy their session with peace of mind.
The atmosphere in this group is lively and diverse; with women of all backgrounds, they are growing in confidence every day. Tracy West, the facilitator is very welcoming and accommodating to everyone.
