On Tuesday, Sunderland College and Young Asian Voices, in partnership with FODI, organised a football tournament to celebrate this year’s Refugee Week.
The event brought together people from diverse backgrounds, using the power of sport to promote friendship, inclusion, and a stronger sense of community. Football has a unique way of breaking down barriers, and the tournament was a wonderful example of people coming together, supporting one another, and enjoying the spirit of teamwork.

To encourage spectators and create a welcoming atmosphere, Sunderland College also provided a free breakfast for everyone who came along to cheer on the teams – a gesture that was greatly appreciated by all who attended.
A big thank you to Sunderland College, Young Asian Voices, the participating teams, volunteers, and supporters for helping make the event such a success.
