On 17 July, FODI’s Women’s Group joined the wonderful women from Sangini at Trinity Church for a lovely afternoon of crafting, friendship and peace as part of Sangini’s Unity and Peace Programme.
Women from different organisations and cultural backgrounds across Sunderland came together to create a beautiful banner representing unity, diversity and togetherness.
The banner is a powerful symbol of what can happen when women from different communities come together, share their cultures, learn from one another and build positive relationships.
This project was initiated following the riots in 2024, with the aim of bringing communities together, strengthening connections and promoting peace and understanding.
It was wonderful to see the women sharing creativity, laughter and friendship in such a warm and welcoming environment.
